How to use ChatGPT Plus “for free”

Microsoft’s Copilot assistant, available for free download, features the large language model GPT-4 Turbo, which is only available on ChatGPT Plus for $20 per month. Copilot is available on Windows 10, Windows 11, 365, Android and iOS apps. By default, this virtual assistant uses the GPT-3.5 model like ChatGPT. Additionally, users can also enable GPT-4 mode, but the trade-off is that the response may be slower. Meanwhile, according to Tom’s Guide, Microsoft has quietly updated Copilot to a version using the GPT-4 Turbo model. The company did not make any announcement, but some experts said that Copilot’s source code is linked to OpenAI’s most advanced large language model (LLM).

The difference of GPT-4 Turbo compared to older models is that the data is updated to April 2023 instead of September 2021 like GPT3.5, with a 128k “context window”, memory equivalent to 300 pages of text instead of 100 pages of text. In addition, the ability to analyze images and reason is also improved.

By bringing GPT-4 Turbo to Copilot, according to Tom’s Guide, Microsoft is giving users free use of ChatGPT Plus, which is provided by OpenAI for 20 USD per month. Only people who enable GPT-4 mode on Copilot can experience GPT-4 Turbo.

Microsoft has not commented on this. Previously, the company confirmed that its AI assistant “will be upgraded regularly”. On January 11, the corporation announced testing a feature that allows Copilot to automatically open every time the user starts Windows. This feature can be applied on large screen devices above 27 inches first. In addition, the company will bring the Copilot key to the computer, replacing the Menu key on traditional keyboards.
